My Picks: 10 Best Albums of 2020

Writer’s year-end note.

Hello everyone! This year is truly feels like only a day in my life. The Covid-19 pandemic has created devastation all around the globe, and the health crisis turned out to be a broader catastrophic and creates sudden and/or slow and steady changes to other sector like economy and business, social, culture, and probably the hardest-hit one: travel. Personally I think, though my business got affected too, but slowly but likely the atmosphere this pandemic creates (particularly the lockdowns) somewhat favors me: cleaner sky, more sleep, less noise, less outside routine with more time to do things at home that I don’t do normally (like washing, cooking, TV amongst other).

How about music business? Yes, the pandemic also bring in changes. The hardest-hit one is concerts. When this is going back to normal? Nobody knows the date for sure. Some says summer next year, some say in 2022. But one interesting change to notice here that as musicians was put on lockdown like most of people in the world, mostly back in the early months when the virus first struck, they start creating songs, and more songs. There are probably more fast-recorded songs and albums this year than any other year before which resulted in more surprise releases, although there are some delayed releases for some reasons too. So talking about album releases, there are plenty to catch out. So below, I made a short list of my favorite rock albums this year, just check it out!

One more thing, thank you for reading our blog, and let’s hope for a better year in 2021. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2014 Nominees Announced: Nirvana, KISS, Deep Purple, and More

Twenty-five years since Nirvana released their debut recording ‘Love Buzz’ (Shocking Blue cover), this year they are directly nominated in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the Class of 2014. Though only three studio albums released during their career with Kurt Cobain, that’s won’t stop them to getting closer to the induction, noticing their big influences for the genre starting in 90’s.

Nirvana among the fifteen other acts that were made into the final list of nominees, they are: Kiss, The Replacements, Hall and Oates, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, N.W.A., Link Wray, The Meters, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Yes, The Zombies. All of them have its own perspective to made into the list. At one point, they must have released the first recording at least 25 years ago (means 1988 or earlier) to become eligible in the year’s ballot.

The next step is voting. More than 600 ballots determines the Class of 2014. They are artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. Public’s choice also counts as one of them. So, vote for your favorites now (up to 5 nominees)!

  • Vote at RollingStone before it’s closed on Dec 10, 2013: Vote here
  • Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction will be held in New York, April 2014.
