Dream Theater Announced New Drummer

Just welcome to the new drummer! Last week, Dream Theater finally announced their new drummer Mike Mangini. He is a drummer who has previously works for Annihilator (1993, 2004–2005, 2007) and Extreme (1994-1996). This is breaks a long time searching for the band’s drummer after Mike Portnoy left the band on September 2010.

The process of taking a new drummer began just a month after Portnoy announce his wishes to leave DT. The audition began and invited seven ‘world-class’ drummer. The process itself had recorded and uploaded to YouTube (watch below).

Mangini alone show his pride as he choosed to the new drummer. He commented:

The day that I got the phone call to be in Dream Theater, it took my brain a minute to assemble what was going on, and when it sank in, the feeling was just of tremendous relief. It means so much to me, I almost felt like crying a couple of times. I didn’t know what to do. What it means to me to be part of not only such a legendary band, but this band, is a sense of fulfillment and purpose. I feel like a puzzle piece, and with Mike (Portnoy) in particular, I feel really honored to carry on the torch for him; I’m carrying on his spirit. ” 

The band’s personels generally give positive statetement to him. Jordan Rudess (keyboards) state a reason to choose him that he plays with such intensity and direction and power; very engaging. John Petrucci (guitar) also shows his impatience to everyone to hear the new music and to begin playing live with Mike.

Now, the band still in the studio, recording their new album. Mangini stated in an interview that the album scheduled to be released sometime in the fall.
